The picture I uploaded was a photo I got at the sum 41 concert
in October of this year. I found it super simple to upload onto x. I think the
sum 41 concert is an interesting event as they are a relatively unheard band
excluding a few songs and if you’re not in the rock scene you probably won’t
know who they are. It was also my first proper mosh pit experience, so getting
a still shot was relatively difficult as I was getting pushed about a bit the
entire time. I found it more interesting to see the difference in every concert
I go to with us being at Leeds arena the atmosphere was different to that of local
venues where it feels a bit more intermit.
Another reason why this image and this concert I would
consider newsworthy is that it is, supposedly, going to be their last ever concert
after doing tours for the last two decades. This means this will be one of the
last times your able to get a shot of them all together and for a life long
fine made this concert among the best I’ve ever seen. I would also say its
newsworthy as it gives an insight into the music scene in Leeds itself.
I found Flickr easy to use and I easily made sense of the
copyright material on them. Basically, if I attribute the image back to the person
of origin I wouldn’t be breaking the copyright restrictions. However, if I redistribute
it directly for monetary gain these breaches on copyright infringements, similarly
if I remix, build upon or distribute the image after I’ve made amendments to it,
I may not distribute it as despite this, its still not my own work and/or could
cause different meaning than what the original creator had wanted.
Getty images I found more complex especially when it came to
trying to embed images onto my blogger which in my attempts, I could only ever
insert a hyperlink and not the image itself. However, I imagine it would be
better for a mainstream company rather than an individual like myself. I think
having to pay for the images ensures that they are always of the highest quality
and lacks the amateur aesthetic of Pinterest and Flickr.
Images online in general searches tend to be private sources
so will always come with some type of copyright unless they come from a trusted
source. The ability to filter searches by the creative common licence means
that images online, in general, which I can use appear faster and creates an
overall easier experience for me to have. This also allows for easier crediting
of sources and websites that I have used to source the images that I have used
