X or Twitter
I found X particularly easy to the use. I was able to easily
pin items of interest to my homepage like Huddersfield university and sports Journalism,
because I’ve done this, I can keep a closer eye on my interests than what I usually
do. The ability to go directly to certain users from the homepage just overall,
made it a lot simpler and easier to use. The fact I’m able to do this in a relatively
fast pace just made my user experience far better. In comparison to Facebook
the account making process was significantly easier takin mere minutes as it
only required a valid email, and didn’t ban me after I made the account like Facebook did.
X’s main USP being the ability to directly @ people has
allowed me to directly address my friends in the past and has allowed for far
faster conversations amongst us in a group or even having secondary chats just
amongst a few of us. This feature in my opinion just creates a far more
friendly user experience, however I could maybe see drawbacks if you have a significant
number of followers your homepage could become congested with conversation which
are little to no interest to you.
The ability to separate your own tweets into threads is a
useful idea, as you can see directly your own opinions on a specific subject directly
underneath one another so that you can easily access and share information in a
far less confusing way. The negative I found was that if I made the post
without originally pressing the plus button to create the thread there was
little ability to recover it without directly remaking the first comment, which
was a bit of a hassle but once I got used to it, it was easy to do and required
little effort whatsoever.
Another negative is the 280-character count, this did stop
me rambling on and forced me to get straight to the point of my piece, but I feel
like this could be easily increased and could be if I wanted to spend money on
it. The fact its restricted to characters and not words I found quite frustrating
just because trying to cut down specific words is just a mess, so I feel like
it would be far easier to use a word-based limiting system so that way I could
say exactly what was on my mind.
